ISSÉ EXHIBITION - 2026
MILANO, ITALY
SOPHIE DRIES
To celebrate the launch of publisher Issé during Milan Design Week, Sophie Dries has designed a immersive installation showcasing a new collection of high-end textiles and textile objects. Set within an intimate Milanese location, the space pays tribute to raw materiality, tactile craftsmanship, and the subtle art of light filtration in contemporary interiors.
The space is organised around a central architectural structure, a dramatic textile canopy that floats within the room to redefine its proportions and create an intimate envelope. Fluid draperies and structured textile screens guide visitors through a curated sequence, where custom seating and geometric volumes are wrapped in natural fabrics, creating a soft contrast with the surrounding architectural shell.
The project celebrates the contrasts so dear to Sophie Dries: the raw, tactile texture of unbleached linen, hemp, and woven fibers paired with polished metals, oxidized brass, and precise architectural lines. It brings together the traditional expertise of European weaving ateliers alongside modern fabric innovation, highlighting sustainable production techniques and natural dyeing processes.
A bespoke range of textile accessories and modular screens was created specifically for the occasion in collaboration with Issé. The sensory experience is enhanced by a subtle play of shadow and light filtering through the layered veils, transforming the installation into a serene, tactile sanctuary at the heart of the Salone.
