Located on Rue de Bellechasse, just steps from the Musée d'Orsay, Quartz Café was conceived as a muted, mineral sanctuary in the heart of Paris's seventh arrondissement. Designed by Sophie Dries for a discerning clientele, the space moves away from traditional Parisian coffee shop tropes to orchestrate a genuinely tactile experience defined by the dialogue between raw rock and architectural precision.

The interior revolves around the textural tensions central to the studio’s practice. An oxidized Corten steel floor grounds the space with warmth, while the main counter echoes the sculptural lines of the Octa bar, originally created for the Mobilier National. Crafted in polished stainless steel with exposed bronze welds, this central volume catches the light reflected by the surrounding drapery. On the walls, bleached tie-and-dye curtains soften the room’s metallic framework, lending a misty, textile quality that evokes mineral alchemy and the understated opulence of the Viennese Secession.

Every detail contributes to a bespoke vocabulary dear to the agency. A newly re-edited version of the Styx mirror punctuates the space with its organic silhouette and delicate passementerie details, while outside, a red plywood bench set on aluminum legs offers a swift rest on the sidewalk. From the curated crystal glassware down to the water itself, remineralized through quartz, the project asserts a holistic vision where interior architecture engages in a continuous conversation with fine craftsmanship.
