SALONE DEL MOBILE - 2018

Presented during Salone del Mobile 2018 in Milan, Sophie Dries unveiled her Traces rug, a project exploring the translation of organic gestures and raw textures into textile design.

The design draws inspiration from the tactile scarring and incised marks characteristic of her ceramic works. Hand-knotted using natural fibers, the rug features subtle variations in pile height and texture, establishing a quiet play between light, relief, and geometric abstraction across its surface.

Conceived for her Milan showcase, the piece bridges traditional weaving craft with contemporary spatial design.
